Thanks Tyson. I think I just need to remind myself that my AH alt's money is purely play money; and if I lose it, I'm still okay (my bank alt has ~12k gold liquid and various mats/consummables).

I've done a little bit of note taking during some free time here at work, so we'll see how it works out. I'm going to take a harder look at recipes. I noticed there aren't really the World Drop recipes that there were in BC, but I do know that a bunch of world drop JC recipes were added in 3.0.8, so I have a starting point. I'm going to try to find the time for a harder look at the AH hopefully by the end of the weekend.
-------------------------------
In hindsight, I wish I had been wise enough to take advantage of the Frozen Orb market. Before 3.0.8, they were ~30g a piece on my server. Now they are regularly selling for around 85-100g. Immediately after the patch, they were double that price (many crafting recipes were changed to require frozen orbs; most notably the JC "glass" recipe). I plan on keeping a close eye on the 3.1 patch notes for similar changes to crafting.

Hi Mike,
I've hit very many of those walls in my AH career where I'll go for days or weeks without hitting another major plateau. Sounds like yours is the 1k barrier. Hang in there and you'll once again see some obvious deals. But what I would suggest is spending one session going through the AH category by category looking for deals and looking at what is selling at a high gold value. You might be surprised. Especially blues and epics but when it comes to pets and recipes, the greens can rack up a lot of money.

My horde side AH character has for weeks been humbled by racking up 3 Spaulders of Egotism, supposedly the 2nd best shoulders in the game for rogues, yet none are selling, even 1-2k below the "avg" on Allakhazam. I can only explain it by low demand on this particular faction and maybe an overall lower population as well. So by little and sometimes a lot, I'm listing them significantly lower than if I would have just bought them. They need to go and whether I break even or even lose a little, I'm prepared. Fortunately I'm making enough (just barely) in other items to offset any potential loss, but it's frustrating.

With regard to the worry, that's natural but I'd say before you act, just think about the potential consequences, make a decision and decide to live with it win or loss. In real life I took a chance a few years ago on Sirius Satellite. It seemed like a reasonable deal at the time despite some early warning signs I wasn't familiar with at the time... though I lost all the money I invested, I realize that this happens and that it could have gone the other way. Basically I just keep learning and take the mistakes as lessons, which makes the worry (at least about this type of stuff) less.

Hi Tyson,

I've decided to get back into AH work after a fairly long hiatus, so I'm trying to get back on my feet. A couple of quick things: have you noticed some items selling on servers at less than half of the Allakhazam median? My server is somewhat developed, so I'm seeing something weird happen with, for example, the Aviary Guardsman's Hauberk. I picked up two last night for 22g and 35g each; and sold one for 135g. I logged in this morning and saw two more posted for right around 35-50g each. I almost bought those out, but I was worried about getting stuck with inventory.

Secondly, I seem to hit a sort of "wall" at around 600g because I worry about sinking all of the money into a select few epics and losing out. Any suggestions for getting past the "worry" of sinking that money into stuff that may not sell?

My server is 80% horde. So your comments are valid, but only in context. :)

You can check the server populations here: http://www.warcraftrealms.com
