WoW Auction House Final Tally
Aug 17th, 2009 by tyson
Thought any readers who want to see this site continue would like to know that I passed safely through the 100k gold barrier several weeks ago to sit somewhere between 110-125k with several epics still in inventory. This is the combined earnings on my two main AHers – one on a lower population horde side and my lvl 14 ally podcast druid with over 80k. After a few weeks of boom, it was slower going for the most part with Wrath of the Lich King once the market and server, and therefore flow of epics (both amount and quality) stabilized.
Why final tally? The WoW auction house has been good to me, but I’ve – for the moment at least – canceled my account due to real life work and the main fact that I was only doing WoW for the AH (for quite awhile), and it just didn’t warrant the extra $15 / month. When the amount of gold kept getting bigger and the market didn’t change as much as I had hoped, it was either decide to use some of it (really, the amt. of time I have for MMO’s is limited at best) or continue earning it – which began to get pretty pointless as I didn’t have an overarching goal – that was usually to fund my characters and / or to help friends with theirs.
Have still been paying attention to the latest patch notes, and still do really like the game and mainly my priest (stationary at lvl 75 with lots of Kara stuff still equipped but some cool WotLK upgrades), so who knows. However, this site will continue to stay open and I’ve just performed some needed and major maintenance to the forum so that anyone that wants to use it, can without spam.
The podcast series is still relevant even though some of the items are outdated, but believe me, the recipes and epics are still where some of the big lump sum money is at – along with (if you can find a good deal) pets. I also believe the advice from the get go can be useful in almost any MMO’s auction house, even though there obviously is some that’s just related to WoW, but the principles and lessons can still apply.
I think my biggest net profit was about 5-6k gold on one item (probably pales to some of you but still pretty substantial relatively speaking to most) and plenty for me. When new games come out such as the new Star Wars MMO, or perhaps even one before, I might jump on, and you can bet the first thing I’ll be going for is their version of the auction house and report back here.
In the meantime, I invite you to make use of the site, and I’ll still monitor and respond to questions or comments. Best all and happy earning!

Thanks! And good luck!
The podcasts definitely still are completely relevant. I stopped playing for a while, but I recently re-upped and I do really spend time on the AH, and I’ve taught others how to do it too.
I personally believe that your podcasts are the best thing out there for learning how to use the AH, and they’re free!
Enjoy the real world, glad you’re keeping the website up despite the massive spamming of the forum that happened a while ago.
Best wishes.
Thanks a lot, glad to know they are still helping people!
